What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapists work with individuals to alleviate and prevent ailments by making dietary recommendations. Our focus is on the belief that there are nutritional and biochemical imbalances in the body that lead to ill health. We make recommendations to restore balance, which may include guidance on avoiding certain toxins and allergens, detoxification and the use of supplementary nutrients such as high-dose vitamins.

Nutritional therapy can be used for people with chronic health conditions or those who want to improve their general health and lifestyle. It is classed as a complementary medicine and may be used alongside conventional treatment. Our nutritional therapist has contact with other healthcare professionals to insure the best recommendations for you.

Bio-individuality

Nutritional therapists work with individuals. We are all different, and what works for one person might not work for another. Before offering solutions, our nutritional therapist will give analyze your situation. Your initial paperwork will give a good snapshot of your condition so that a unique diet plan based on your unique conditions can be created. There are a few generalities that work for most people, but to start on your path to optimal health we need to know as much about you as we can.

Foundations of Nutrition

Proper Digestion, Blood Sugar Regulation, Mineral Balance, Fatty Acid Balance, and Hydration are all of importance in a properly-prepared nutrient-dense diet. When you work with our nutritional therapist, we will analyze all of these foundations in your situation.

Treat the Whole and Complete Person

Nutritional therapy uses a holistic approach designed to treat your systems, not your symptoms.  We look at the cascading effect of molecules upon cells, cells upon tissue, tissue as a part of organs, organs parts of a system, and ultimately the organism (you) as a whole. We  recognize the connection between nutrition and seemingly unrelated conditions such as asthma, sinusitis, anxiety and depression, muscle cramping, fatigue, low energy and many more.

Culture Affects Us

Most Americans, or others who have been exposed to Western culture, tend to have diets that suffer from poor nutrition. This is a result of eating too many fast foods, convenience foods, and highly processed foods with increasing amounts of added refined sugars, preservatives, colorants, and unpronounceable ingredients. We were never designed to eat those things, and they cannot be processed as actual nutrition.  Compound this with decades of poor eating habits and you end up with any number of lifestyle diseases such as inflammation, Type II diabetes, obesity, loss of mental clarity and so on.  We become resigned to believe that these are just a part of growing older, but the good news is that they can be reversed.

Our Approach

Nutritional therapists work with you directly as a partner to help you on your path to optimal health. We actively monitor your condition, reward your progress, and help you to make adjustments as necessary. The end result will be that you are healthier, happier and more energetic, with the knowledge you'll need to continue your life in better health.
